Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 1, 2025
Overview
Trace Place ("we", "our", or "us") is a children's educational app designed to help kids learn to trace letters, numbers, shapes, symbols, and sight words. We take children's privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
Trace Place is designed for children ages 3–7 and their families. We are committed to full compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and do not knowingly collect personal information from children without verifiable parental consent.
Information We Collect
- On-device progress data. Stars earned, items completed, and stickers unlocked are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device or gets sent to our servers.
- No account required. Trace Place does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the app.
- Crash reports (optional). If you opt in through your device's privacy settings, anonymized crash reports may be collected to help us fix bugs. These reports contain no personally identifiable information.
- App Store purchase data. If you make an in-app purchase, it is processed entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment information.
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Trace Place does not collect personal information from children. Specifically:
- We do not collect names, email addresses, or contact information from child users.
- We do not display behavioral advertising or track children across apps or websites.
- We do not share any child data with third parties for advertising purposes.
- All progress data is stored locally on the device and is not transmitted to any server.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected any personal information from a child, please contact us immediately at privacy@traceplace.app and we will delete it promptly.
Ads
Trace Place contains no third-party advertisements. We do not use ad networks, and we never show ads to children using our app.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. Because we collect virtually no personal data, there is very little to share. We do not share any user data with third parties for advertising, analytics, or any commercial purpose.
We use Apple's App Store and StoreKit for in-app purchases, subject to Apple's own privacy policy.
Data Storage & Security
All app progress data (stars, completed items, stickers) is stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage mechanisms. It is protected by your device's own security features. If you use iCloud Backup, this data may be included in your personal iCloud backup, which is subject to Apple's privacy policy.
Deleting the app removes all locally stored data from your device.
Your Choices
- You can delete the app at any time to remove all local data.
- You can control crash reporting through your device's privacy settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements).
- For questions or data requests, contact us at privacy@traceplace.app.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Your continued use of Trace Place after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
